What is your standpoint on the balance for SSD discussion? There is such a lack of good btrfs documentation, leading to uneccessary confusion and discussions online. Should you balance an SSD? Will it wear out faster?

This is a good question. Balancing moves data around, which mean more writes. However, doing regular maintenance tasks such as btrfs balance start -dlimit=1 once per week should not be a problem.
